2019 State Fair, Award winning Photography
A Press Release
Studio 3P, LLC is pleased to announce that honors were received by one of our photographers at this year’s S.C. State Fair. Kimberly Case’s portrait “The Laborer” was awarded 1st Place Premium, and “Lady with Wheat” was awarded the Dorothy W. Ryall Award of Merit for Photography in the Professional Fine Art Division of the South Carolina State Fair. Both photographs depict youth in scenes harkening back to simpler times.
Case is a photographer with Studio 3P, LLC in Irmo, SC and a member of the Seven Oaks Art League and Professional Photographers of S.C.
Hallmarks of her work are richness and whimsy. Incorporating sometimes fantastical themes, wardrobe and props, her photographs are often first mistaken for oil paintings, due to their tones and aura.
Case shares, “My desire in each portrait is to freeze a moment in time; usually not the moment that the shutter winks here in the 21st century, but a different moment, one sometimes long ago, sometimes far away. By using light sculpting, custom backgrounds, and vintage props and wardrobe, I strive to create a brief window the viewer can peer through, seeing exactly what I have contrived for them to see. Sometimes this is an intimate glimpse of a person at rest and unguarded, sometimes a snapshot of a subject poised as if ready to speak. I attempt to transport the viewer to another place and time.”
Her work in many media has been exhibited around the Greater Columbia area, including at the SC State Fair where in 2018 her portrait creation “Girl with Sword” won Best of Show in the professional category.
Recently, works by Case have been exhibited at the Spartanburg Fringe Festival, Ramco Gallery and Framing, as well as in local establishments. Currently, her art is part of a multi-artist exhibition at Rob Shaw Gallery on State Street in Cayce. Her artwork is in private collections across the midlands.
